It’s happened to all of us at one point or another. You’re driving along and suddenly you hear a loud pop and realize you’ve got a flat tire. Don’t worry, it’s not as difficult as it may seem to fix.

Here’s a quick guide on how to deflate a tire. First, if you have a spare tire, go ahead and put that on. If not, don’t worry, we’ll get to that in a minute.

Next, take out your jack and place it under the car in the correct spot. Consult your car’s manual if you’re unsure where this is. Once the jack is in place, start cranking it until the tire is off the ground.

Now that the tire is off the ground, unscrew the lug nuts with your wrench and pull the tire off. Take your new tire (or spare) and line up the holes with the bolts on the wheel. Put on the lug nuts finger tight for now.

Once all of the lug nuts are in place, use your wrench to tighten them down evenly until they’re snug but not too tight – again consult your car’s manual for torque specifications if you’re unsure how much to tighten them down by.. Now lower your car back down to the ground and give each lug nut another turn to make sure they’re all nice and tight before driving away!
